THE PROMINENCE OF THE BRITISH RAILWAY SYSTEM
From the works of Dickens, George Eliot, and D.H. Lawrence through to the present, the British railway system has been a part of the social fabric of this country. Studies show more citizens of the British Isles are travelling via rail now than at any point in time since the 1920s, and in all likelihood this trend towards the tracks is only going to continue. Railways are an integral part of both Britain’s transportation pathways as well as a vital, well-woven thread in the tapestry of our national heritage. Since the first railways centuries ago, Britain has been a leader in railway travel, efficiency and safe conduct along the rails. As such, we aim to continue that legacy, and to continue to serve the public’s transportation needs. To this end, the British railway industry places a high level of importance on ensuring the safety of both its passengers and those whom it employs; to work for British Rail or any other railway system, you’ll need Personal Track Safety training and a PTS card.
